Liz Jones- Bare faced cheek

After reading this post on Sera's blog (The Agoraphobic Fashionista) about Liz Jones' ridiculous article on feminism and make-up, sparked by recent celebrity images, I knew I immediately had to check it out for myself.

Liz Jones, a notoriously controversial writer for The Mail Online has crafted another shocking piece of journalism, seemingly maliciously targeted at Holly Willoughby (and other celebs) for posting up pictures of themselves without make-up on.

What horror!

Her issue was, in fact, that not wearing make-up was anti feminist and that choosing to go without it 'is to denounce womanhood itself. It is arrogant, over-confident one-upmanship.'

The photo in question

After slating celebrities for their make-up free photos, Jones then posed for one herself
She then goes on to say these wonderfully contradictory words 'I am not vain, or frivolous, I am DEEP. My husband loves me for who I am: naturally gorgeous.' (So why not have more make-up free days then?)

The whole thing just doesn't make much sense to me, and seems as though she has no real idea what she's talking about. She just ends up slating Holly Willoughby, saying on screen in all her make-up she resembles a 'drag queen', yet without it she's fake.

Like Sera says, troweling on make-up like Liz does just looks awful. There's no enhancing of features, just slapping it on so her face looks completely different and hides her own insecurities.

Personally, I think Jones is just a little bitter that her attempt at a natural face photo wasn't as attractive as Willoughby's, and that alone lead her to crafting this ridiculous piece. Jones has no more reason to call herself a journalist than any other online blogger does!

Anyway, what do you think of going make-up free? Have you read the article? Share your views, we'd love to get a discussion going!

Viva Forever!

Of course, the biggest entertainment news this week is THE SPICE GIRLS ARE REFORMING.

Again. (Kind of.)

After the sudden, unexpected end to their last attempt at a reunion in 2007, nobody ever really imagined they'd try again... did they?

Still, they're back, and this time with their own musical!

According to the Metro: "The show, produced by Mamma Mia! creator Judy Craymer and written by comedy actress Jennifer Saunders, tells the tale of an adopted girl called Viva who enters a reality contest in a girl band."

Sounds... interesting! Still, if you were a huge fan of the Spice Girls back in the 90's, I'm sure you're going to love it.

They've certainly got a lot more style and sophistication to their look these days, and they are looking great! Does anyone else think that Geri actually looks younger as she gets older?!

Will any of you be booking tickets?!

I thought it was a cruel joke, but it's true!

And I'm not happy about it!

Of all the beautiful, sophisticated, glamorous women in the world to portray Elizabeth Taylor, we have trashy Lindsay Lohan.

I have no words! Except for disapproving ones which I shall try to avoid!

They don't even look alike really, do they?

Please, someone tell me I'm not alone?!
More pics, and an actual article here!

Currently lusting after...

This beautiful delight:

No, not the girl (though she does have fabulous hair), but the bag, look at the bag!
*Drools*
Ever since seeing this appear on this Vogue style blog, I knew I had to find it.

It happens to be a Matthew Williamson fringed ombre bag from his Spring/Summer 2012 collection. And I happen to be in love.

Here it is in all it's glory....

In fact, screw it, I want the whole outfit!

The Ascot Fashion Police

It's Royal Ascot time and the real fashion police are out in force, protecting clothing standards and ensuring that nobody slips through the net at this prestigious horse raising event!

Those entering the 'Royal Enclosure' are met with even stricter standards: "Strapless, off-the-shoulder, halter-neck, spaghetti straps and dresses with a strap of less than 1 inch (2.5cm) are not permitted," says the dress code for ticket holders. Dresses should not fall much higher than the knee and fascinators are banned completely (hats must be over 4 inches in diameter to be acceptable
Dressed in purple are the official Ascot fashion police handing out shawls and pashminas
Well, the headpeace matches regulations... Shame about the rest of it!
Again, adhering to the dress length and hat  rules, but this is still a tacky crime against fashion!

What do we think? Has the elite fashion police gone over board? Or is this necessary to protect the image of Royal Ascot?

Cheryl Cole- new fashion line?

So according to Chezza's recent interview with Capital Radio, she's been thinking about doing a Victoria Beckham starting her own fashion label.

Personally, I wouldn't be buying clothes from someone who dresses in outfits like this:

yes we get that you're doing the print clash thing Cheryl, but don't over do it!!

Ever heard of a tailors?!

But each to their own!

What do you think of Cheryl's style? Would you be interested in checking out her range if she started designing her own stuff? We want to hear your views!
